For the 11^th instalment of the Spectrm Podcast series we enlisted the extremely talented hands of our friend and fellow DJ, Rafael. Having played sets in Helsinki before moving to study in Hull, Rafael has made a name for himself in the comparatively small ‘scene’ of our beloved northern city in the past year, becoming a resident at Get Low and playing an active role at the Uni’s Crystal Clear DJ Soc. Rafael’s love for techno is pretty obvious from the start of this mix and as the aural hour passes the 3-deck mixes continue to create seamless blends and the fists begin to pump even harder. Highlights for us include the fantastic use of the characteristic vocal sample of ‘Faint’ on the recent Sunklo release and the unrelenting ‘Socket’ by CTRLS, a track that caught everyone’s attention when dropped by Blawan in that splendid Boiler Room mix not so long ago. Once again these guest mixes do not disappoint. This is why we love techno.
